How to start a Google Plus page for your small business?

How to start a Google Plus page for your small business?

After failure of Orkut, Google decided to start a new Social media community which will be very similar to Facebook and Twitter therefore they started a social media community which we call Google Plus. Google Plus is a new but a growing social community where people gather to have hangouts, to share their blog posts and obviously to promote their products.

And this is the reason why Google Plus is too good for your online marketing startup. Moreover, Google Plus also helps you to promote your website in top SERPs. How? Well read this to have more information.

To wrap things up in a few words, let me explain shortly. Basically, whenever your posts get +1’s from your fans or followers, you actually earn a do-follow backlink from a very high authority website(Google Plus). This fact was first shared by Matt Cutts(Google Anti-Web spam head). Read this above shared post to have more info.

Now let’s come back to the topic and that is that “how we can start a Google Plus fan page to promote our business”.  So let’s start the step-by-step guide:

Choose a Category

First you need to visit choose a business type page on Google Plus, then choose a category for your business(i.e. Storefront, Service area or Brand). We will choose the third option(Brand) for this particular post as shown below:

Submit information about your page

After choosing Brand you will be redirected to a new page where you will need to submit relevant information about your business.

Enter your page name, official website of your business, choose a type of your page and check “

create your gplus page

Now a welcome pop-up will appear which will ask you to take a tour of Google Plus, I recommend you guys to take that tour hope this will help.

Make further customization

Now when your Business Google plus page physically exists, it’s time to customize it. For example, we will first add a new cover to our brand new page. For this click on edit button which you will find at the top right of the browser as shown below:

edit your gplus page

After clicking on Edit button, a new page will appear from where you can edit anything of your page(i.e. tagline, description, cover photo and contact information etc).

But first thing first, to edit your cover first move your mouse to the current cover of your page, after which a “change cover” button will appear on your screen which will look like this:

Click on it, now a new pop-up will appear from where you can select images from gallery, albums and old cover photos but since our page is very new so we will have no cover photos already present therefore we need to upload new images. For this go to Upload and then click on “Select a photo from your computer” button as shown below:

Now choose a photo from your computer directory, crop it and finally click on “Select Cover Photo” button.

You also need to change your profile picture, to do this first hover your mouse to empty profile picture then a camera icon will appear, click on it and upload your photo by following the same procedure which we followed for uploading our cover photo as shown below:

Make a tagline for your page

Now when your page has a face in shape of a profile picture and a cover photo, it’s time for us to add a tagline for our page. To do this, search for story tab and click on Edit button as shown below:

Now add 10 words that describes your page the best, you can also write a small introduction for your page. After writing a small tagline and a decent introduction, click on Save button as shown below:

Now your page has its basic structure. Now start posting your posts, promote your page on different communities. You can also use some other social media websites like Facebook and Twitter to get more followers on your Google Plus Page.
