Get Wikipedia backlinks — 100 percent working method

A backlink from Wikipedia can boost your search engine ranking within months. This can be the least thing you can ask for as a SEO. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia which provides useful information about different subjects, which means that they may also have few articles related to your niche.

And if this is true — then you are just two steps away from earning a backlink from Wikipedia. Those two steps are:

  • Read this article from top to bottom
  • Finally, Implement

I am going to share a method with you guys which helped me to create valuable backlinks on Wikipedia for my blog .  I got 100 percent success whenever I have implemented this simple method to get Wikipedia backlinks.

What you will learn?

  • How to start editing on Wikipedia?
  • How to get a backlink from any Wikipedia page? — even if the page doesn’t have any dead links.
  • How to create safe and long-living Wikipedia backlinks?

Now before we go any further — I encourage you guys to create an account on Wikipedia. If you already have an account, then just move further.

How to start editing on Wikipedia?

Wikipedia moderators are so much keen to make Wikipedia as clean as they can — this is the reason why they always do a check after an article has been edited by an editor.

If you will try to just simply add new links to articles without any reason — then they may have a check and ban you.

Wikipedia discourages self-promotion and do not allow editors to give backlinks to their sites. So signing-up with an email address of your company may lead you to failure.

Make sure that you do not use your company’s email address or an email address that reflects your intention of adding links to your site.

On your first day, you should work on Wikipedia honestly — the easiest work for you can be to add archive links for dead links. This will give your account great amount of respect and authority.

To find dead links go to Wikigraber, and search for any keyword — let’s say “blogging” and click on Dead Links button once the results appear.

Open each and every result that you get and try to find that dead link — once you have found one — replace it with an archive link.

An archive link is a link to Web.archive.org containing the records of the dead site. Wikipedia ask editors to only use {{Dead link}} template only if the site does not have any records on Way back machine.

To know how to add archive links for dead links, you may read this.

Now before we move further, make this thing clean in your mind. We are only doing all this to build reputation — once we will be able to obtain authority and respect for our account — we will start adding backlinks on Wikipedia for our site.

I also contributed to the community by doing the same thing, I added archive links for many dead links:

As you can see, I also did many other things to earn respect. For example, I added new information to the articles, I updated outdated records.

There was one more thing that I did — I opened few Wikipedia articles and I open each and every reference link that was on the page.

I found that many links on Wikipedia were dead, but no one had mentioned them as dead links. This lead me to a conclusion, that there are still so many broken link building opportunities — but for some reason these broken links are not declared as dead links.

So I added {{Dead link}} template to many links which were not working.

This boost my reputation and I got these thank you notifications.

All this process took me 3 days of hard work — Yup! only 3 days — and then I started my link building campaign on Wikipedia, for which I used a very smart tactic — I will share it with you within a minute.

How to get a backlink from any Wikipedia page?

Once you have managed to gather enough respect and authority to your Wikipedia account — it is time to build Wikipedia backlinks.

Unfortunately, I cannot share the backlinks which I created for my blog — but believe me this trick works 100 percent.

To build a backlink for your site, first find any relevant Wikipedia article. For that type your niche’s name or keyword and after it type “wikipedia”. For instance, if your niche is android phones — then type “android wikipedia” on Google and press enter.

Now open any of these pages. I opened the first one “Android Operating System”. Now let’s assume that your blog is about Android security — then search for the related heading.

In this case, search for “Security and Privacy” heading and click on edit source button.

Now what you should do is to add some new information in the section and leave a relevant link of your site as a reference .

I will share a small example, On 13th February 2016 I added some new information on an article about WordPress. The information was about WordPress security, and I added a small paragraph in “Vulnerabilities” heading, the paragraph was:

The story doesn’t end here. In March 2015, it was reported by many security experts and SEOs including Search Engine Land that a SEO plugin for WordPress called WordPress SEO by Yoast which is used by more than 14 million users worldwide has a vulnerability which can lead to an exploit where hackers can do a Blind SQL injection.

To fix that issue they immediately introduced a newer version 1.7.4 of the same plugin to avoid any disturbance on web because of the security laps that the plugin had.

After that I added a reference link from Search Engine Land (I failed to add this link before using this method). And everything worked great.

There was no re-editing by a moderator, neither anyone deleted my reference link or the paragraph that I added. Here is the proof.

After posting a new link for SEL on Wikipedia — my confidence was boosted. I tried to add a link for my own blog on Wikipedia — for that I went to a page called “Glossary of Blogging” and added new information about Event Blogging.

I added a link to one of my articles about Event Blogging as a reference. Here is the proof.

As you can see I was able to create a backlink for my article which is indeed not a great write-up  but still my link was not removes. Do you know why? Because of the respect that I have earned.

How to create safe and long-living Wikipedia Backlinks?

If you will follow my instruction correctly — then there is a great chance that you will be able to create great backlinks.  But there are few things that you should consider before using this method or you can become a suspect which will lead you to a ban or deletion of your link.

To use this method safely make sure that you:

  • Do not create abundance of Wikipedia backlinks for your blog
  • Do not only create links for your blog
  • Do not link spam or useless or outdated pages even if you have published them
  • Do not link an article twice from one page — this may make you suspicious.

Final Words

I hope this trick will work for you too. Now you have better chances of creating a persisting Wikipedia backlink that stays and lives long.

Just do the hard work in the starting era — once you think that you have done enough — start building links for your site.

So don’t wait, use this strategy today and get the most authoritative link for your site today.
