Consider 5 things before making backlinks

For high Page Ranks in Google every website needs some quality backlinks and every webmaster knows that. The problem is making these backlinks. First it was easy to get a good Page Rank on Google by making cheap backlinks through some spammy comments, forum profiles and through other BlackHatSEO tactics. Its not the case any more. Especially after Penguin and Panda algorithm updates. 

In-fact these low quality/cheap backlinks are more a hazard for a Blog Rank in Google Search Engine. I have study many cases where webmasters were complaining a significant decrease in their Blog traffic. All of them were saying the same thing that “Our Blog was going good in SERPS but now it has nearly disappeared”.

For those guys who were penalized due to their low knowledge about SEO, I feel very sorry and for guys who were penalized because of their mistakes or I should say for their crimes. I feel no mercy. Because Google has always asked Webmasters to not use these shitty, cheap backlinking tricks to promote your Blog or to get high Page Ranks. In 2012, Google had enough, So they launched a revolutionary algorithm which is known as Penguin 2.4 who’s ambition was to penalize all those Black Hats.

But no matter whether you are being penalized because of your mistakes or you are penalized because you deserved to be, I was very curious to find out that how really these algorithms work and how do they point out a website for being Black Hat SEO. For this I start some research work on Google Penguin and Search Engine Results. The main purpose of this research was to find that how Google makes a Page priority in SERPS and how they decide to not show a page in SERPS.

Yesterday, when I felt that I have done enough research work on this topic. I decided to post an article on my Blog. And that post is what you are reading.

1) Quality of the Page from which you will get a link

This is probably the biggest factor for a making a quality backlink. When making a backlink always consider the Page Authority of the Page from which you will get a backlink. Remember, I said Page authority not Domain Authority. For this purpose you can use Moz Bar or SEO Quake. Always avoid the Page with low authority to make a backlink because this will not help you to gain a increase in your Page Rank. In-fact it will decrease your Rank which will make your Blog perish in Search Engines. So I meant to say that making a ton of low quality/cheap backlinks won’t help you to get high Page Rank but will make Google convince to penalize your Blog.

So what is the best authority Page to have a backlink?

Well, Any Page which authority is above 30 or above 40.

2) The Page must be related to your niche

Never make a backlink from a page which doesn’t match your niche. For Example if you will make a backlink for a blog which niche is Remote Viewing from a Blog or website which is about Food. Then you can be penalize by Google because their spiders will be amazed to find a Remote Reviewing website or Blog on a Food related Page. In result, Google spiders will consider that link a Spammy link which can lead your blog to a penalty.

3) Considering Anchor Texts

This was a totally new fact for me.  I never though that a highly keyword rich anchor text can also cost a penalty. Recently, I wrote an article on SearchEngineLand about Mr. Doc Sheldon who was penalized for just allowing a single highly rich keyword anchor text which was linking to another blog. Mr. Doc Sheldon had open a newsletter which he tweeted to Matt Cutts. In response Matt pointed out towards a guest post which Mr. Doc Sheldon allowed on his blog. You can read more about it here.

4) Your Backlink should look natural

This is the biggest mistake many Bloggers do, They just post a ton of comments or links to different websites without telling people about what is the link really about which makes your backlink look unnatural. Whenever will Google spiders crawl the page on which you have posted your backlink, they will inspect your link there too and they will try to figure out that what really is your link about and whether its posted for an educational purpose or its a part of a backlinking scheme. If they find your link is for educational purpose they will count it as a backlink to your Blog. However, If Google thinks that Hey, this link is just made for page rank purpose then they shall penalize the website or blog which was getting the link.

To make a natural looking backlink, First add some text or description before posting your link. For Example if your website is about Ipads then make a link like this ”

Hey, I was wondering to find out a place to buy an Ipad on cheap prices with a year guaranty. I was very happy when I found this website. You will like it too. www.yourwebsite.com

5) Don’t make a flood of backlinks

Whether you are following those 4 points I have made or not. You cannot post a ton of backlinks for your blog on other different websites. This will hurt not only your blog but your reputation too. Because every blogger on your niche market will consider you a spammer and if Google find the same link with same text on different websites they will catch you.
